What is GenOne Spray?
GenOne Spray is a topical spray containing an antibacterial and an anti-inflammatory drug. It is useful for treating superficial lesions in dogs caused by bacteria susceptible to gentamicin. It also helps reduce accompanying inflammation and itching.
How is GenOne Spray given?
GenOne Spray is applied topically to the affected area of skin. It should not be applied to the eyes.
What if I miss giving my pet the medication?
If you miss a dose, give it when you remember, but if it is close to the time for the next dose, skip the dose you missed and give it at the next scheduled time, and return to the regular dosing schedule. Never give your pet two doses at once or give extra doses.
Are there any potential side effects?
Serious side effects are unlikely if used as directed for no longer than 7 days of therapy. Cushing’s syndrome, delayed wound healing and immunosuppression have been reported in patients with prolonged or repeated steroid therapy. Some pets show side effects to the corticosteroids. These could include: increased thirst and urination, panting, diarrhea, vomiting and behavior changes. Gentamicin can cause premature birth in pregnant animals. Corticosteroids can cause birth defects during the first phase of pregnancy. If you notice any unusual symptoms, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian. This short-acting medication should stop working within 24 hours, although effects may last longer in pets with liver or kidney disease
Are there any risk factors for this medication?
Avoid if your pet is pregnant or has an allergic reaction to the product.
Are there any drug interactions I should be aware of?
No
Be sure to tell your veterinarian about any medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) that your pet is taking.
Is there any monitoring that needs to be done with this medication?
Monitor for response to therapy. Reassess if improvement is not seen.
How do I store GenOne Spray?
GenOne Spray should be stored at room temperature between 36-86°F.
What should I do in case of emergency?
If you suspect an overdose or an adverse reaction to the medication, call your veterinary office immediately. If they are not available, follow their directions in contacting an emergency facility.
