What is Ondansetron?
Ondansetron is an antiemetic which antagonizes serotonin (5HT3) receptors peripherally and centrally to suppress emesis
How is Ondansetron given?
Ondansetron can be administered orally, IV or SQ.
What if I miss giving my pet the medication?
If you miss a dose, give a new dose immediately and resume prescribed dosing regiment.
Are there any potential side effects?
- Prolonged QT intervals in dogs under anesthesia; Serotonin syndrome
Are there any risk factors for this medication?
- Avoid in patients with liver disease.
Are there any drug interactions I should be aware of?
- Avoid using Ondansetron with SSRI’s, Tramadol.
• Be sure to tell your veterinarian about any medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) that your pet is taking.

How do I store Ondansetron?
Ondansetron should be stored between 36 and 86 degrees F.
What should I do in case of emergency?
If you suspect an overdose or an adverse reaction to the medication, call your veterinary office immediately a href=”tel:518-446-9171″>(518-446-9171). If they are not available, follow their directions in contacting an emergency facility.
