What is Zenrelia?
Zenrelia is a nonselective JAK inhibitor that inhibits the function of allergy-related cytokines. It is used in the treatment of allergic skin disease is dogs.
How is Zenrelia given?
Zenrelia is an oral tablet that is given once every 24 hours.
What if I miss giving my pet the medication?
If you miss a dose, give a new dose immediately and resume prescribed dosing regiment.
Are there any potential side effects?
Inadequate vaccine response was demonstrated in vaccine-naïve dogs receiving high doses of Zenrelia. Other reported side effects are vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and in rare cases immune suppression
Are there any risk factors for this medication?
This medication should not be used in patients under 1 year of age and the safe use has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant or lactating animals.
Are there any drug interactions I should be aware of?
The safe use of Zenrelia has not been evaluated in combination with glucocorticoids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive agents
Be sure to tell your veterinarian about any medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) that your pet is taking.
Is there any monitoring that needs to be done with this medication?
Examination and bloodwork should be done every 6 months for patients on Zenrelia continuously, or annually for patients that receive Zenrelia seasonally.
How do I store Zenrelia?
Zenrelia should be stored between 59 and 77 degrees F.
What should I do in case of emergency?
If you suspect an overdose or an adverse reaction to the medication, call your veterinary office immediately. If they are not available, follow their directions in contacting an emergency facility.
